Default Movie Scenes

I would like an official statement (or at least a devs word) that the movie scenes do or do not make a difference if you will be attacked or not if you allow the full movie to be played. To many times I have been in groups that want to skip the scenes because they believe if you do you will have an advantage over the mission. I personally don't believe this to be true. Or am I wrong?

Sadly on some missions it does make a difference.
It should not, but it does.

If it's your first time seeing the movie then watch it. Ignore all those who want to rush through - it's your game too and they have to respect that.
I bet they watched it the first time they seen it also!

Ok if it does matter how would I know. The mission where you have to infuse your armor. I have seen people say that you have to skip that scene so I did. Then I went and did it on my own and watched the movie and there was no difference. I did not get attacked, is that because I actually killed every mob while going there and not doing a run?

I've never skipped movies, unless it was my 2nd+ time doing a quest or mission, personally I found watching them doesn't really hurt the game much, but I beg to differ.

See that is my whole point. Where do these people get the Idea that skipping helps or not?

God knows... since there has been cutscreen where mobs were still attacking in the backgound. But they dissapeared once the game restarted... so I fail to see the issue.

People asked you to do that because chances are since it was an infusion run, they wanted to get it done quick. That, and everyone seems to hate the seer, especially after being forced to watch it for the 5th time.

but their reasoning for skipping was because we would get attacked... like another instance is in one of the trials. Where you are timed to destroy 3 priest. Some one was upset that I sat through the movie when we were being timed.

Exactly! A good example is Elona's Reach. I did it a few nights ago and when it came to the instructive cutsence, we watched it (just after you give the ghost the first crystal) not knowing that this scene will take up 3 minutes of the timer!

Lucky enough, one party member already did this mission and insured us there is still plenty of time left. We didn't make it, however, but not due to time. We accidently aggro'd two sets of mobs.

EDIT: Just realized your point was about being attacked during cutscenes. My post is now irrelevant but I'll leave it up to show my hatred of the timer starting before cutscenes.

ok so is that the only mission that is effecedt by scenes?

This really should be changed... the timer starting before the scene starts my be a bug for the Devs to look into.

I've seen most of the cuts, however, I would never press the skip button until I see everyone in the group do it first.. I don’t want anyone to feel pressure to skip a movie they have not seen..

In a group of 2 (real players) if you skip the movie that’s exactly what you are doing too...

The missions are so damn easy(even with henchies), who cares about any advantage you may or may not get.. They should make all the missions harder if anything, especially the ascension ones.

I just want to have fun, be challenged and certainly don’t want to rush anyone else through something they have not enjoyed yet. my 2g..

Like most people, I just watch them once and thats it. I don't feel that they actually change anything, but say on Ring Of Fire, right after you kill the Portals, but leave everything else, it might be wise to skill, because things WILL attack you still and you can die in the cutscene. While doing my first infusion run with a friend the Shadow aura thingies were attacking while we were talking that seer and if we didnt' skip he'd have been dead. Plus their kinda corny and retarded.

So is there anyway that you can watch the cutscenes outside of the mission. That is, once you finish a mission can you somehow go back and watch a previous movie. I am pretty sure you can't, but it seems to make so much sense that they would allow this, I had to ask.

The only reason there is to skip a cutscene, is if you KNOW you're being attacked (Sometimes fools will aggro a mob and run straight to a cutscene. The monsters will then proceed to beat you down while "7 out of 8 members wish to skip this cutscene"), but as far as I know there isn't any advantage or disadvantage to watching or skipping them. Elona gives plenty of time to do the mission/bonus, and with 3 minutes less it shouldn't matter.

There is a bit of an odd glitch with the Mines of Moladune mission. At the start, you take out the engineers firing the catapaults and you get the cutscene where the yaks stampede. From time to time, if that cutscene is skipped, it causes a few interesting side-effects, partiularly on morale.

One time, for no reason, when I skipped the scene, my morale shot up to +10 straight away. At others, the 2% morale indication that I gained from killing the first engineer would disappear, but the bonus would still be reflected in En and Health boosts. Very odd......

Also, Elona is another example of why the first part should not be run. There you are getting instructed into the ascention task while the GH is firing at some minotaur attacking a party member. When the scene ends, one member is lying on the floor with a DP, rangers pets are left way behind (and on a mission like Elonas, pets are very useful for drawing and dealing damage to the sages without aggroing every other forgotten in the area) - Besides, if you're after the bonus, you have to clear out the first part anyway, and it's not that hard to do.

I've been killed while watching a movie. Some idiot triggered a cutscene while we were still fighting minotaurs in the elona reach mission, and one was attacking me. In the backround of the movie whenever i was in shot you could see this thing hitting me, complete with normal sound effects for it etc. And when the movie ended, there i was, dead at the feet of the minotaur (i had nearly full health when the movie was triggered). The rest of the party thought it was really funny.

Never had any problem with it. I saw us getting attacked in cuscenes too, though I thought you were immortal when this happend (never died during a cutscene ). And I thought they fixed the timerissue (atleast was in update page few months ago). So if you want to see it, see it.
